Client
DiGiDO GmbH is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ARAplus GmbH, which in turn is a subsidiary of Altstoff Recycling Austria AG (ARA). ARA is owned by domestic companies and operates as a non-profit organization. The company has an innovative IT platform for ERP data exchange for large companies, SMEs, public authorities, and municipalities in an exchange format agreed upon with businesses and users. It ensures the fast, efficient, and secure exchange of data.
Challenge
The size and variety of information in the existing system required simplification. Therefore, presenting it in a simple and easy-to-understand format was a challenge.
Our goal was to create an “add-on product” enabling customers to visualize all the information already provided by the DiGiDo network.
Solution
We implemented changes to the dashboard to improve the flow of information. We used React to build a functional dashboard that visualizes waste transportation data, as it is ideal for building frontends in dynamic web applications.
In addition, we used Material UI, the React component library, which provides ready-made interface elements in accordance with Material Design principles, making it easier to create aesthetically pleasing and functional applications.
One of the project’s challenges was the visualization of data, particularly cyclic diagrams. The project was also implemented using a waterfall approach, which meant that changes to the project had to be carefully planned and implemented in successive phases. Despite these challenges, the team succeeded in completing the project.
Key functionalities included:
- Dashboard for customers: The application presents information on the status of waste transportation, including the origin, destination, and quantity of the waste being transported.
- Visualization: Data analysis through bar charts, line charts and material flow charts.
- Order list: Customers can view detailed order information, including order status and routing.
- Order creation: Customers can place orders with some editing capabilities once created.
- Bilingualism: The application supports two languages.
The application was designed with users in mind, making it intuitive and easy to use. It is also data-neutral, meaning the product does not save customer data. If customers want DiGiDo to collect and report on their data, they can use the DiGiDo.Cockpit add-on.
Results
The platform we created enabled the client to effectively visualize their waste transportation data, which is vital for their business. Our collaboration with DiGiDO was seamless, making the project easy to implement. Moreover, the collaboration with DiGiDO‘s team was very good, which made the project easy to implement. Thanks to the project’s success, the client won a profitable tender with the McDonald’s chain.
