For 27 years, DE software & control GmbH has been a leading provider of worker assistance systems and production planning and control digital solutions in Industry 4.0. It develops advanced software for work planning, fine control, data acquisition, and process evaluation, collaborating with globally renowned automotive brands. The company’s services also include software optimization, planning, data analysis, and predictive maintenance for the manufacturing industry. The client’s software supports compliance with VDI 5600 MES requirements.

Challenge

The client’s challenges encompass technological and strategic aspects.

  1. Software Development and Migration to Newer Technologies.
    The client’s production management system is continuously evolving and requires migration to newer versions to keep pace with current technologies. The complexity of the system necessitates a deep understanding of interdependencies and careful implementation. Support from German-speaking developers who are committed to the system’s long-term development is essential.
  2. Transition to Microservices Architecture.
    The client’s system architecture, already complex, is to be enhanced with microservices to improve scalability and maintenance and increase flexibility for changes. This requires specialized DevOps expertise.

Solution

VM.PL has assembled development teams for the DE Group that work closely with the client’s teams and support all phases of software development. These teams consist of experienced Java and .Net developers at the senior level and assist with the system’s migration to newer Java versions and the development of microservices.

The teams are working on the following digital solutions:

  • Backend – Updating to newer Java versions,
  • Frontend – Transition to modern frameworks,
  • infrastructure for Microservices – Introduction of Spring Boot, Rest API, Docker,
  • development of interfaces for communication with machine controls and other devices.
